ESTENDAL
(Hanging Clothes)
2013
This performance/installation was presented at Oxo Tower Wharf, Bargehouse, as part of Zealous X art exhibition, London.
This project was firstly presented at Mariana Jones art gallery, Miguel Bombarda street, Porto, in 2009.
The performance consisted of hanging and catching clothes (paintings on paper), in a repetitive and uninterrupted action. The intention was to reflect on the blind and monotonous routines of domestic labour, practices which habitually become mechanical, automatic. The performance was a reflection on a non-reflective practice.
It was an action that touched the absurd and which represented, in an exaggerated way, certain necessary everyday behaviours.
