"A Friend's Visit", August 2014@Top Floor, 98 Fordwich Road
My friend Yujin Lee who I met in the year of 2010, at Takt Kunstprojektraum artist residency, in Berlin, came to visit me in London. I remember our memorable happy times in our flat's kitchen, during the residency, where I was teaching her how to do milkshakes.
This time, she stayed in my flat in London and she decided to spread all of her beauty products over my living-room table. When I realized that the normal use of the table had changed to become a stage for her objects, I decided to secretly take a picture of it.
The products displayed were so organized and ordered that when I first looked at them, I almost thought Yujin was making an art installation. It was a good surprise, when I arrived home and no one else was there apart from this collection of beauty products. When I suddenly saw this scenario, it made me smile.

This is Yujin Lee's suitcase before she left. Her clothes, cables and her book: 1984 by George Orwell, A new adaptation created by Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan, published by Oberon Books London, were all contained there.
A suitcase is a little portable house, carrying all of our possessions, traveling from one country to another. Suitcases and all of the paraphernalia inside it, inhabit different places and have extraordinary adventures and life experiences.
And always, when a suitcase is packed, it's the time for a goodbye and the restart of a new life somewhere else.
